He’s one to watch!

On Sunday the Velo Club Baracchi riders on the club run covered 50 miles in Suffolk and Norfolk.

Seven riders met at the Cotmer Road roundabout at 8.30am, hoping to meet up with a faster group and stay with them for a short time.

The plans to meet failed when the faster group suffered some delays and a puncture on the way to the rendezvous, so the two groups proceeded independently.

The seven riders went first to Halesworth and then through Wissett to Homersfield and o the Alburgh, Denton and Earsham to a café stop in Earsham Street in Bungay.  The ride continued past Ellingham Mill to Beccles, Ellough and home.

The other group included riders from the new DAP Cycling Club.  VCB riders in the group rode out to the Bell Inn at St Olaves to meet them and when everyone had arrived they headed back.

A puncture happened in Herringfleet for Dave Loynes, who will be riding for the DAP team next year, but eventually the riders reached Southwold and headed to Blythburgh.  Most of them returned via Halesworth.

Lucas He, a VCB junior who was on the main club ride, recently completed a race school programme laid on by Pedal Revolution. It was for 4 weeks every Saturday where he and his fellow participants practised skills that are useful in a racing situation.

He said, “It was a lot of fun and I felt as if it was very useful to me as I am planning on racing more next season.”

Lucas had a great season in time trials and also earned road racing points in the year, so next year he will be one to watch.
