In the Velo Club Baracchi end-of-season hill club events the winner of the hill climb was Pat Harbord, whose runner-up, Ali Banks, took first place in the freewheeling competition.
Velo Club Baracchi waved goodbye to the Holmes Cup for another year when the resurgent Gt Yarmouth CC turned out a mass of riders for the reliability trial.
Mike Rainton’s 100-mile charity ride, already reported on this site, was probably the longest Velo Club Baracchi ride in the week.
Actually, the nearest Mike Rainton got to joining them was by taking part in the last leg of the coast-to-coast charity ride by RAF personnel in aid of the Jon Egging Trust and two other charities.
As a complete contrast from last week end the Sunday weather was cold and very wet, but this did not deter all potential contestants in the Keith Stephens Memorial Duathlon.
The last weekend of the time trials season, with stunning “scorchio” weather, turned out to be good for VC Baracchi members Chris Womack and Gary Matthews, who had saved the best till last.
Yes that’s right – not the 16th as on the published programme. GYCC have for some time been working on the basis it will be on 23rd!
Nicki Hawkes of Velo Club Baracchi won the women’s category and Chris Womack rode a personal best in the East Anglian CC 10-mile open time trial at Earsham.
