Another VCB junior record (his own) falls to Lucas He

Velo Club Baracchi junior rider Lucas He set two more personal best times that significantly lowered the club junior records.

In the CC Breckland open 25-mile time trial (which was re-run on Saturday after a cancellation) he set the new club benchmark at 53:31 and took tenth place, while the day before his new 10-mile time in the VC Norwich event was 20:51.

The Breckland 25 also brought out good performances by Paul Dennington 54:38 (PB) in 14th place, Chris Womack (57:44 for a veteran prize in +16:22) and Alex He (1-00:47 despite going off course and returning) and Nick Esser of DAP CC 54:32 (PB).

Ben Stancombe of Kings Lynn CC won in 49:50 from Dave Green of Team VeloVelocity 50:58 and Ben Keely of Team VeloVelocity 52:10.

With Geoff Frost as the third counter in 53:36, Team VeloVelocity won the team prize.  Jennifer Smart (VC Norwich) was top lady in 58:03.  52 riders finished.

VCB times in the VC Norwich 10 were Lucas He 20:51, Paul Hayward 21:39 PB, Chris Womack 23:19 for a veteran prize and Alex He 24:23 (PB).

Paul Dennington did not finish, as he missed the turn.  The expected marshal at bottom of the slip road was absent and he was not the only rider to go wrong.

Mark Richards of DAP CC achieved 20:20. Fastest was Harley Matthews of DAP CC in 19:19, beating Matthew Senter of Team VeloVelocity (19:23) into second and Mark Arnold of CC Desiragear (20:11) into third. Team VeloVelocity won the team prize.

The fastest lady was Denise Hurren of Sole Bay Cycle Sport with a 23:03 PB having just returned from the UCI World Championships for amateur age category riders in Albi, France, in which she took tenth in the F50/54 category.

In the last Diss CC club 10 of the year last Tuesday conditions were harder than the week before and the VCB times were Lucas He 21:31 (second overall), Dennington 23:30, Alex He 24:47 and, on the tandem, John Swanbury and Ali Banks 23:31.  Mark Richards won in 21:24. 25 rode.

In the Gt Yarmouth club 10 at Lound, Lucas He was a deserving winner in 22:22 with Esser of DAP CC second in 24:23.  Alex He was on 25:55 and Richard Allen 29:56, pleasingly above “evens” or 20mph.  14-year-old VCB rider Billy Girling put in a great first ride in 30:26. 26 rode.
