VCB riders hitting form

Velo Club Baracchi riders are producing their fastest times of the year.

At the Godric CC 10 on Tuesday Allistair Banks recorded 24:53, John Swanbury 25:43 and Mark Womack 25:37, rewriting his personal best.

It was not a perfect night for fast rides, but at least it was much warmer.  The winner was I Robertson (Tri-Anglia), 22:27.

The CC Breckland 10 on Wednesday was held on a new course on the A11 running south from Attleborough and turning by the Snetterton circuit.

Mark Newnham was the fastest VCB rider (23:38).  Other VCB times: John Dupen 24:56, John Swanbury 25:44 and John Thompson 28:06, much encouraged by his faster ride.

VCB secretary Nicki Hawkes (Team VeloVelocity) broke new ground with 24:59, while the event winner was Jim Burgess (Anglia Velo) in 20:43.  And all this despite quite a strong wind on the first leg.

On Sunday John Thompson travelled out to west Norfolk to represent the club at the district 25 championship, over two laps of the A47 on the Tilney and Wisbech bypasses.  As expected in the Fens, the wind affected riders’ rhythm.

Thompson “bashed out” a time of 1-18:26, two minutes faster than his last ride on the course.  This year’s champion at the blue riband distance is Daniel Bloy (King’s Lynn CC), 54:14.
