Frosts limit riding but the Wrinklies get out

Variable weather with some hard frosts early in the morning have disrupted regular winter cycling, though Velo Club Baracchi riders have taken some of the limited opportunities.

Every time the informal group called the Wrinklies sets out there will be at least a few VCB riders among them, which as was the case last Friday and on Tuesday.

Friday was the better day and seven riders took part, four of whom were from the club.  They took a route of about 40 miles, heading through Suffolk to Bungay and then north to Hales and Norton Subcourse to pick up a tailwind back to the café in Ellough on the return.

This Tuesday’s group of three avoided the frosty roads as much as possible and had their café stop in Beccles itself.

Two of the club’s veteran riders, Chris Womack and John Swanbury, are entered in CC Breckland’s open 10-mile time trial on New Year’s Day and are hoping the weather will be kind.

VC Baracchi wishes all Journal readers a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
